Meet the CEO of CHC

Sue is the founder and CEO of CHC Consulting. She works with organizations to build resiliency to workplace stress in order to reduce absenteeism, turnover, and disability claims while increasing productivity, leadership skills, team creativity, and effectiveness.
How she does this is what is a bit different than most… She uses a traditional learning format in classrooms or board rooms, and adds experiential learning using the wisdom of horses… yes, horses for corporate retreats.
With over 30 years in healthcare and senior leadership in mental health and palliative care, Sue brings knowledge of psychological health and safety, leadership, team dynamics, resiliency, compassion fatigue, and moral distress to her session.
Her services are ideal for corporate retreats, strategic planning sessions, change management planning, or in-depth team development. Any organization looking to improve workplace culture, team dynamics and leadership, to reduce errors, and to get the jump on the competition would benefit for the services of CHC Consulting and Sue’s expertise.

Experience Working with Horses:

About Equine Assisted Learning

Learning by doing is the most profound learning we can undergo. Being able to see firsthand the results of our actions in real time is fundamental to being able to understand our impact on ourselves and others. This gives us the opportunity to try our new approaches and develop a deeper understanding of the processes at work. Reflecting on and discussing these processes further enforces this new understanding. The experiential exercises reinforce the in-class portion of the sessions and will support the long-term retention of the material. The selected exercises are customized to support the organization’s area of focus for their session.
Our experiential sessions impact all areas of being in the learning process

Equine Assisted Professional Development, Growth, and Learning

The use of equines in personal/ professional growth and therapy is a relatively new field with increasing scientific support. Horses are social animals, as are dogs, but, unlike dogs, horses are prey animals. Their very survival depends on the ability to read non-verbal communication and react to the emotions, thoughts, and energy of those in their social group and environment.
Horses are much more skilled than humans in “reading” our non- verbal communications and “holding up the mirror” for us to see better what we are communicating non-verbally.
They are able to pick up on what we carry with us into the work environment.
The experiential aspect of this work will heighten your awareness of how you are perceived and your ability to be fully present in your activities.
Using horses in our sessions allows us to discover the root cause of what is holding your team back from greater success.
